Geoforensics has been defined as the application of selected geoscience techniques to criminal investigations of what happened, where and when it occurred and why it took place.

GNS Science is using naturally occurring isotopes, elemental analyses and biological remnants as environmental tracers for innovative approaches to scientific problem-solving in both geoforensics and authentication projects.

Analytical verification methods and supporting datasets are being developed and used to prove product authenticity and origin, support consumer confidence, and aid in the sourcing of items for law enforcement and other agencies.
